Bahrain junior handball team has clinched the Kuwait International Youth Friendly Championship.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also took part in the four-nation tournament.

Bahrain beat in the first match Saudi Arabia 26-24 and qualified for the final where they faced Kuwait.

Bahrain edged Kuwait 26-24 in the thrilling final to win the cup of the tournament held for the first time.

"We are proud of the Bahraini performance and we look forward to further successes," Khalid Al Najem, the secretary-general of the Bahrain Handball Federation, said.

Bahrain’s participation in the tournament was in the framework of the preparation programme set for the next World Cup in August in Macedonia.
