Community organization helps expatriate after he was brutally attacked in Bahrain. Indian national Afsal Noormohammed, aged 30, was allegedly attacked by robbers last year in Manama. The men who reportedly stole his wallet, pushed Afsal from the second-floor window of a building leaving him seriously injured. After multiple surgeries, he was reported to have been partially paralyzed.
With the help of the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) and the Embassy of India, Bahrain, Afsal was provided with a stretcher and a return ticket home. He hails from the Kollam district from the southern state of India, Kerala. Afsal is still undergoing treatment.
Being one of the largest community organizations in Bahrain, Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre’s South zone decided to help Afsal’s family in providing them with drinking water. For this, they donated money to help the family dig a well at their home. This initiative came under the “Jeeva Jalam” project that helps families. Muslim League Kollam district president M Ansaruddin handed over the fund to Afsal's at his home in Kollam.
