The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gulf Hotels Group, Farooq Almoayyed, has announced that the work is underway on a land in Adliya for developing and constructing a multi-unit restaurant complex with 4 restaurants with an investment of about BD 1.5 million.


He explained to reporters on the sidelines of the general assembly of the group yesterday, that the plan is currently to manage two of these restaurants and rent the other two.


Almoayyed pointed out that the group will begin the second phase of the renovation of Crowne Plaza hotel in 2019, and is currently studying several projects to expand its operations in Saudi Arabia, where there are offers for management of hotels in Jeddah and Riyadh.


He added that the group is also developing a coastal project of Food and beverage services and all operating activities at Bahrain Bay.


Almoayyed said that Bahrain's hospitality sector continues to face challenges due to low occupancy rates and room rates, however, the government has begun to take positive steps to boost tourism and exempting the sector from the VAT was one of them.
