The total number of employees in the financial sector reached 14148 at the end of 2018 compared to 14093 at the end of 2017, according to the annual survey conducted by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).

The survey revealed that the total number of Bahraini female employees in the financial sector increased by 2.2% compared to the previous year. The number of Bahraini female employees reached 3621 at the end of 2018 compared to 3542 in 2017. The percentage of Bahraini women holding managerial positions was 33.2% of the total managerial positions held by Bahrainis working in the financial sector at the end of 2018, which is a higher percentage than in the previous year, recording 32.2% at the end of 2017.

The annual survey also stated that the non-banking financial sector, insurance companies, exchange companies, finance companies, capital market brokers and other non-bank companies, saw a 109-job increase, with 6303 jobs at the end of 2018 versus 6194 at the end of 2017.

According to the CBB’s annual survey, the number of Bahraini workers in the financial services sector reached 9285 employees which form 65.6% of the total number of employees in the sector in 2017. Bahraini women accounted for 39.0% of the total Bahraini workforce in the financial sector, compared to 38.0% in 2017.
