Working in the field of jewellery makes for his professional world but Ratheesh expresses his love for colours and life on canvas. Indian expat Ratheesh is a self-taught sketch artist who creates illustrations of prominent personalities, actors, singers through what seems to be effortless hand paintings. Ratheesh’s works make everything seem possible. Just look at his sketches and you will know why.

 

 

A video of his paintings and his life was first brought to light through renowned social worker Shijuvenugopal. The video shows in detail every drawing that Ratheesh has completed including His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal, Indian musician K J Yeshudas, Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan to name a few.

 

Speaking to Albilad, “Ratheesh had called me multiple times to come and see his artwork.  When I stepped into his quarters I was in awe of the incredible talent that he possessed. Hailing from Calicut, Kerala, Ratheesh comes from a small village and is a very talented artist. There are so many skilled artists that we are unaware of so I wanted to take an initiative to bring his art out in the open.” said Shiju.

“You will find Ratheesh sitting in a small room where he goes about with his work. When I met him he was working on his sketch pad - an illustration of Mamooka. It was one of his dreams to meet Mammootty and get his sketch autographed by the superstar. So during the harmonious Kerala event, we managed to get a few minutes where Ratheesh could meet the superstar” he added.

“I am a self-taught artist and have been painting for a long time. It is a skill that has grown over the years” said Ratheesh in the video.

Ratheesh was working on an illustration of superstar Mammootty and got the opportunity to meet him and get his art signed by Mammootty himself. Ratheesh’s room is filled with numerous sketches of famous personalities where his art speaks volumes about the ease and skill with which he paints. Social worker Shiju hopes to gather the support needed to bring this talented artists out In the open in Bahrain.  An exhibition featuring his paintings would be an event that people could hope to see in the future.
