More than 1300 people attended an Iftar get-together that was hosted by the largest and oldest community organization in Bahrain yesterday. The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) hosted the Iftar Get-together in association with Al Noor International School Chairman Ali Hassan. On behalf of the Embassy of India, Kingdom of Bahrain, Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha spoke during the occasion addressing the gathering.

“I thank BKS for giving an opportunity for me to come and meet you all during the holy month of Ramadan. I want to congratulate you on this occasion and I join you for the very important part of Ramadan that is Iftar.  Both our countries, India and Bahrain have enjoyed very close historic ties which are deep-rooted. Be it Onam or Iftar, every festival is celebrated together which brings everyone closer to each other” said the ambassador.



Also addressing the gathering was the president of Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam P V Radhakrishna Pillai.

“Fasting as you know helps to know the God almighty more and to gain sufficient exposure to be with the deprived. Iftar party is organized by BKS in association with Mr Ali Hasan, the father figure of the Indian community who has completed over five decades since he migrated to Bahrain. From scratches, he has built an empire of businesses that expands to various fields” said P V Radhakrishna Pillai.



“He is a distinct businessman as he gives to those who are less fortunate. His charities and philanthropic activities are well known amongst the community. I express my gratitude to him for his wonderful gestures” he added.

“Our ambassador has always been at the forefront of all the initiatives and all the interest of Indians whether it is art, culture or business since the time he has arrived in Bahrain. He has always made it a point to attend important functions that we host” he added.
