“There will be a metro station close to the Bahrain International Airport’s new terminal,” stated the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication in its response to the parliament’s financial and economic affairs committee.

The ministry added that the metro station will be built later as there will be bus stops and public transport stations close to the airport’s new terminal. These facilities, the ministry explained, aim to make traveling between the different area of the Kingdom easier and cheaper.

The ministry assured that the new terminal, which will be managed by the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), is four times bigger in size of the current airport. It, the ministry added, will provide job opportunities for Bahrainis.

“Employees have been attracted since the start of the construction. A total of 130 employees were employed in various fields like engineering, technical and accounts to follow up various stages of construction. They have been trained and qualified to deal with modern technologies and devices,”

The new terminal of the airport, which is built at a total budget of $1.1 billion, will include a number of important strategic projects, the most important of which is the new passenger terminal project with a total area of 210,000 square meters.

The area of the free zone will be increased to 3300 square meters. Operated by Bahrain Duty-Free Company, which was established in January 2018 with a capital of BD7 million as a joint venture between Gulf Air Holding Company and Bahrain Duty-Free Complex. Another project is the aircraft fuel tank with three fuel tanks. The project is a joint venture between the Bahrain Airport Company for Aircraft Fuel and the Oil & Gas Holding Company with the aim of restructuring the aviation fuel sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and building fuel tanks within the airport yard.
