Lebanese businessman Nizar Zakka, who had been detained in Iran since 2015, landed in Beirut on Tuesday after the government secured his release.

In a joint press conference for the Lebanese Chief of General Security Abbas Ibrahim, following Zakka’s arrival to Beirut, he said that he is “not an agent” and that he was “arrested in Iran under false pretenses.”

Zakka, an information technology specialist who also has US residency, had been detained on charges of anti-state activity. He flew out of Tehran with Lebanon’s security chief Abbas Ibrahim on Tuesday.
