Tourism Minister Lina Annab and Education Minister Azmi Mohafara resigned on Thursday from the Jordanian government in the wake of the Dead Sea disaster.

Minister Lina Annab announced on her official Twitter page that she had resigned from her position in the government headed by Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz.

“In the general political climate and the painful situation of our beloved homeland, I resigned today from my position in the government,” she said.

Floods swept through the Dead Sea in Jordan last week, causing many deaths, including that of students on a school trip.

It has not yet been announced whether the Jordanian prime minister had accepted the resignations or not.
