The Philippine Embassy in Bahrain has called on its citizens to report cases of “sex trafficking”, this came in an official statement published by the embassy on its official facebook account.

The statement urged all Filipino community and resident who are legally under the embassy’s authority to report any type or case of sex trafficking which, the embassy assured, is one of the types of trafficking in persons.

The embassy urged the Filipino community in Bahrain to be vigilant to help end the issue of trafficking in persons. Either by reporting any incidence of online sexual exploitation or any type of similar incident to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) hotlines.

The page has also shown a video that mimics what the Filipino community suffers from this phenomenon.

It is noteworthy that a total of 1839 victims from the Philippines are exposed to trafficking cases annually around the world, including 1422 women and 410 children.
