“A competent department at the ministry has a record to register and supervise massage shops,” stated the Health Minister, Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh, in response to an inquiry by the Southern Municipal Council regarding men’s salons practicing massage.
Al-Saleh explained that the health requirements to be met in the barbershops, beauty, fitness, and massage are issued by a decision of the Minister of Health on the proposal of the Department of Public Health, and the Department of Public Health has a special record in which all shops of barbershops, beauty, fitness, and massage are registered to monitor them.
She added that Article 67 of the Public Health Law No. 34 of 2018 stipulates that the Minister shall, upon the proposal of the competent department, issue a decision on the health requirements to be met in the shops of barbershops, beauty, fitness, and massage.
The Minister of Health noted that the Ministry prepared a draft regulation of the public health law, which includes the health requirements that must be met in the shops of barbershops, beauty, fitness, and massage. She assured that work is underway to take legal procedures for its issuance.
