Our national basketball team made a great start in the 23rd “Arab Basketball Championship 2018” with a 75-68 victory over Saudi Arabia last night in their first match in the tournament which is held at Cairo International Stadium Sports Hall.
Young Bahrain National team performed so brilliantly during the game showing their quality and talents, and they have emerged very well and deserved to win, so they are very close to reaching the semi-finals of the tournament where five teams qualify for the semi-finals, Our second team match in the preliminary round against Egypt at 8:00 pm on Saturday.
The Saudi National team took the lead at the beginning of the first quarter with their successful tightening defense formation.
Our National team was not as successful in defense, however, they managed to get back to their form with many successful scoring.
The Saudi team continued their success in the leading 27-15. Until the Reds then did fast counter attacks and scored 5 consecutive points. A remarkable return with great defensive improvement gave the national team the lead 40-34 lead.
The Bahrain national youth team played well throughout and stayed in the fight until the dying seconds before securing their win 75-68.
The quarters of the game were as follows: 24-15 for Saudi Arabia, 25-10 for our team, 19-19 and 15-16 for our team.
The birth of a new star
Salman Ramadan, Bahrain National team Coach surprised the Saudis by pushing Mustafa Hussain the 16-year-old to the game starting from the second quarter.
He was very bright in the game and was one of the main reasons for the win as he scored 15 points.
