Hundreds of people in Bahrain flocked to theatres to watch a sports drama film which had a worldwide release on October 25. Tamil film Bigil starring Thalapathy Vijay has left fans raving about the film as it focuses on the Tamil Nadu women’s football team at the forefront.
Bahrain’s Al Hamra Theatre has been decked with huge building-sized banners of the actor and the poster of the movie placed in front of the theatre. Scores of people took to social media expressing their excitement.
Speaking to Albilad “There was a major crowd at the theatre to the point where we had to book the tickets four to five days before the movie was released. Bigil is a female oriented sports movie which certainly did have elements of previous movies he has starred in such as the affectionate father. Needless to say ‘Bigil’ was unique and did have a variety.I think the highlight of the film was the song ‘singappenney’” said Ranjith Ravi a Bahrain resident.
“The movie does portray what women face in the present day scenario especially during the second half of the movie which showed an acid incident. The movie was as a whole had an originality and was superb!” he further added.
According to multiple reports, Bigil's worldwide box office collection has surpassed Rs 200 crore and is still going strong at the box office.

IBT reports that Bigil is the third movie of Vijay to reach Rs 200 crore-mark after Mersal and Sarkar. The Thalapathy's movie has shown the signs of becoming one of the biggest hits of his career and now at the eighth place in the highest-grossing films in Kollywood among the movies which are originally made in Kollywood.
“I know Thalapathy Vijay was a good leader and true leader for Thalapathy Fans because he knows the way, goes the way and shows the way best to all nanbans and Nanbies” stated Bahrain Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.
In Bigil, Vijay is sharing the screen with actress Nayanthara after a gap of 10 years. The film sees Vijay in dual roles as a father and a son. Vijay plays the coach of a women's football team. It also features Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu, Amritha, Indhuja and many others. Bigil is produced by AGS Entertainment.
