Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa today received in her office at the Ministry's General Court, Regional Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) Moez Doraid.
During the meeting, the Undersecretary welcomed the Regional Director UN-Women, Arab States, affirming Bahrain keenness to strengthen partnership with the United Nations and its specialized bodies and agencies and to upgrade cooperation relations to wider levels to meet common aspirations.
She said the Kingdom of Bahrain, based on the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, adopts supportive policies to women at various levels, and translates them into quality initiatives that won international recognition, most important of which is Princess Sabeeka Global Award for Women's Empowerment.
Shaikha Rana said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attaches great importance to the role and empowerment of women at all levels, stressing keenness to adopt follow-up policies to ensure equal gender opportunities to achieve the highest levels of efficiency by monitoring the performance and contributions of women, who in their turn aim to draw a promising future in diplomatic and administrative work.
For his part, the Acting Regional Director of UN-Women appreciated the meeting with Dr. Shaikha Rana and praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in advancing Bahraini women and supporting their progress in various fields.
He noted that the representative office of UN Women in the Kingdom of Bahrain would support national efforts to make highlight the participation and competitiveness of Bahraini women and would create opportunities for cooperation with international experts in women's affairs, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
