South Korean President, Moon Jae-in, received the heads of news agencies participating in the 17th Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) General Assembly, which began here yesterday, at the the Blue House (the Korean Presidential Office).
Bahrain News Agency (BNA) was represented by Director General, Abdullah Khalil Buhejji, at the presidential meeting.
President Moon Jae-in discussed with the heads of news agencies issues related to promoting peace, prosperity, development and economy. He also stressed the importance of the role of news agencies and their credibility, especially amid the spread of fake news.
The 17th OANA General Assembly is hosted by South Korea’s news agency (Yonhap), with the participation of 43 news agencies from 35 countries.
The event aims to broaden the scope of cooperation and news exchange among OANA members, and hold workshops on media work in the era of 5G communication technology, and the challenges facing news agencies under modern technology.
