Public Prosecutor Dr. Ali bin Fadhl Al-Bouainain announced that a group of 80 inmates have been released from rehabilitation centres after replacing their remaining jail terms with non-custodial penalties.

The move follows directives which were issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, amid festivities marking the landmark sports achievement, which brought joy to all citizens.

HM the King directed to expand the non-custodial penalties on this happy occasion, taking into account the human plight of those convicted juveniles and all those who were exploited into committing crimes.

“The royal move aims to bring joy into the inmates’ families and help them integrate into society”, said Dr. Al-Bouainain, adding that all those who were released belong to this specified category.
