His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa will tomorrow, Wednesday, receive, in a grand ceremony, Bahrain National Football Team, which won the 24th Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 24) in Qatar.

 The ceremony represents a royal token of a gratitude to the team which won the historic trophy, honoured the nation, renewed Bahraini sport excellence and epitomized the ability of national competence to shine in all competitive fields.

The historic achievement was attained thanks to HM the King’s care, encouragement and support to Bahraini sportspeople, which enabled national teams to shine, win trophies and reach honourable results in all regional, continental and international competitions, thus bolstering the Kingdom’s standing on the global sports map.

The national team won the maiden trophy for the first time since the inception of the Gulf Cup in 1970, thanks to the impressive performance of the players, who clinched the coveted title with great merit and brought joy to all the people of Bahrain and residents living on its land.

The achievement is also the fruit of dedicated efforts exerted by the sports community which supported the national team in all championships with great patriotic devotion. A tribute should also be paid to the people of Bahrain and sports fans whose support and cheering was catalyst for players to shine and usher in a new glory for sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
