Bahrain’s oldest community organization held its induction ceremony as the new committee took office. The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam has become the premier social and cultural organization representing not just the Malayalee community but the entire 4,00,000 strong Indian community and is in the forefront in promoting Indian arts and culture, philanthropical activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The chief guest at the event was Kerala Legislative Assembly opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. He has served as the state Home Minister in the Government of Kerala and holds the record of being the youngest Minister in the State of Kerala at the age of 29.
He has also served as Member of Parliament for four terms and member of Legislative assembly for three terms and has represented the highest body of Indian National Congress, the Congress Working Committee (CWC ) in the year 2004.
Padmashri Dr Ravi Pillai was the guest of honour for the night. From being a farmer’s son to a construction tycoon, Dr Pillai, in his four-decade-long innings, has won many awards from various governments and organisations.
He is the recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award and the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman from the Government of India and the Humanity Award from the Government of Kerala, India. He has also been honoured by the Bahrain Government.
The evening also featured ‘Dhumdhalakka Season 02’, a non-stop dance and musical extravaganza by popular film actress and dancer Navya Nair. She has starred in Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada films and is also the recipient of two Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress, one Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Malayalam and the Kalaimamani award.
The audience was also enthralled by a musical treat by famous playback singer Prasanth. The 11 member committee is headed by PV Radhakrishna Pillai as president and Varghese Karakkal as general secretary.
The committee will also include Vice President Devadas Kunnath, treasurer Manoj Surendran, Assistant secretary Varghese George, literary wing secretary Feroz Thiruvathra, entertainment secretary Pradeep Patheri, membership secretary Sarath Ramachandra, librarian Vinoop Kumar, indoor games secretary Paulson Lonappan and internal auditor Mahesh Pillai.
