“Development of the Saar Entrance and main road is expected to be completed by the end of 2020,” the Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, Huda Fakhroo, told announced to the media.

She added that the project is predicted to reduce traffic jams in the Saar roundabout and the entrance, which is known for witnessing jams in rush hours, to more than 50%.

Fakhroo noted that completing the development of this vital road will be a relief for residents of the area as, she added, it will create free movement away from the signal light, and facilitates the transition between the main roads.

She explained that the capacity of Saar street will be doubled after completion. Saar Street accommodates about 4000 vehicles per hour, and the waiting time for vehicles is expected to decrease by 60% after the completion of the project, as a result of additional tracks, separating areas and the development of intersections.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Works aims to improve traffic flow and raise the level of traffic safety in most areas of heavy traffic and population. As well as regulate the movement of vehicles and pedestrians and increase the capacity of streets.
