The 7th edition of the Arab Forum and Award for best practices in the field of elderly care opened under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister, Chairman of the National Committee for Elederly People, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan.
The World Centre for Sustainable Development organized the two events in joint cooperation with the International Union for Social Responsibility and the Regional Social Responsibility Network.
The 2020 forum which was attended by experts and representatives of private institutions and non-governmental organisations, announced the launch of the Arab Observatory for Elderly People Care.
During the opening ceremony winning Arab institutions were honoured in recognition of their role in caring for elderly people. An exhibition showcasing elderly people’s products was also opened.
The forum also fearures a number of training workshops which focus on best Arab practices in caring for the catergory of elderly people across the Arab region.
The three-day event is being held under theme “International Strategies to consolidate the integration of elderly people and protect their rights”.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the minister stressed Bahrain’s strides in caring for the elderly people through care and development services, hailing developed legislations serving this social category in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
