Agriculture and Marine Resources Undersecretary at the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Dr. Nabil Mohammed Abu Al-Fateh, met Northern Governor, Ali bin Abdulhussain Al-Asfoor, in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Agricultural Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Abdulkareem, and Director of Plant Wealth, Hussain Jawad Al Laith.
The undersecretary discussed with the governor proposed initiatives regarding tourism promotion of the agricultural sector in the kingdom, in addition to efforts to market Bahraini farmers’ products.
The two sides agreed to hold a meeting with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) and the Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) regarding the farmers’ permanent market at Hoorat A’ali, in addition to another meeting the officials of the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry on those initiatives.
The undersecretary stressed that the Agriculture and Marine Resources Department will continue supporting Bahraini farmers, especially regarding the marketing of their products, as the best means to advance the agricultural sector in the kingdom.
He highlighted the importance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s initiative on enhancing agricultural development and aquaculture, noting that the royal initiative aims mainly to strengthen partnership with Bahraini farmers.
He also pointed out that work is underway to distribute 40 stands to Bahraini farmers at the Manama Central Market to enable them to market their products.
