Over 176 Indian Nationals in Bahrain returned to Kozhikode Kerala yesterday. Air India Express flight (AIE) IX 1376 departed from Bahrain 176 passengers and four infants.
Under Vande Bharat mission 10 flights from Gulf region carried over 1500 expatriates to Kerala yesterday. Four flights from Dubai, arrived each in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kannur and Kozhikode airports in the evening carrying stranded Indian nationals.
Two flights each from Jiddah and Bahrain arrived in Kozhikode. Fight from Oman to Thiruvananthapuram and Kuwait to Kannur also arrived late evening.
After the detailed medical check-up, the passengers were shifted to quarantine centres. Meanwhile, Kerala continues to report a rise in Covid19 cases with 58 new cases being confirmed today. Out of this 48 are returnees from abroad and other States. Presently 624 active cases are there in Kerala.
India’s Ministry of Home Affairs has prepared a protocol that is mandatory for everyone to follow who will be aboard a flight back to India. Amongst all those stranded overseas, the SOP mentions that priority travel will be enabled for “compelling cases in distress”.
These cases comprise international students, migrant workers/ labourers who have been laid off, short-term visa holders faced with an expiry of visas, persons with a medical emergency, pregnant women, the elderly, and those who have had a death in their family in India.
