Over 8,916 Covid-19 tests were conducted yesterday (12 June) health officials confirmed. The Ministry of Health detected 600 new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in foreign workers, contacts and some from recent arrivals to the island kingdom, according to health officials.

Health officials said that 347 expatriate workers were detected with the virus in the past 24 hours, 249 others were infected from local contacts while 4 cases were detected in recent arrivals from abroad.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed that 414 patients recovered from coronavirus bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 11,903 so far.

The latest update reveals (12 June, 9 am) that there are currently 137 Covid-19 cases receiving treatment, of which 10 are in a critical condition. Over 5,320 cases are stable out of a total of 5,330 active cases. The total number of discharged recovered cases totals to 11,903.  Bahrain has so far reported over 36 deaths and has conducted over 403036 tests.

The Ministry of Health confirmed two Covid-19 fatalities yesterday. The Ministry of Health announced the death of a 48-year-old Bahraini female and a 60-year-old male expatriate. Both were registered active cases of coronavirus died suffering from underlying and chronic health problems. 

The patient, along with all other active Covid-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team. The Ministry of Health expressed its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family at this difficult time.
