“A total of 1856 drug cases were seized since 2019 until the first quarter of 2020,” revealed Head of the International Cooperation Division in the Anti-Narcotics Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, Major Abdel-Rahman Shwaiter, during a radio program.
He affirmed that the directorate was making tremendous efforts to combat and reduce the drug scourge.
He explained during the radio security program that is prepared and presented by the General Department of Information and Security Culture in cooperation with Bahrain Radio that the drug addicts were like sick and need care, advice and follow-up. He said that prevention was the supreme goal of preserving the youth of the country, and therefore the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science launched a “recovery” program that aimed to extend a helping hand to the addicts who had the desire for treatment by evaluating their behavior to return to the straight path and become active in society.
Head of the International Cooperation Division assured that all addicts can refer to the directorate’s hotline 17715579 to report drugs issues or respond to any inquiries in this regard. He said that as all would be treated in confidentiality without revealing the identity of the caller.
