His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued 24/2020 adding a new article (62 bis) to the law of associations, social and cultural clubs and private organizations working in the field of youth and sport and private institutions, which was issued in decree-law 21/1989.
As an exception to the provisions of this law, clubs may be established in the form of commercial companies in accordance with the Commercial Companies Law issued in decree-law 21/2001 provided that they are registered in the register prepared for that in the competent administrative authority after a decision is issued by the competent minister. Clubs can also change their legal entity into commercial companies in accordance with the rules and procedures specified by a decision of the competent minister after approval by the Cabinet.
The competent minister, in coordination with the minister concerned with trade affairs, shall issue a decision determining the form of companies that clubs can take, the rules regulating their work, including the rules of technical and administrative work and the mechanism for overseeing them, all of which shall be consistent with the provisions of the Commercial Companies Law.
The Prime Minister and the ministers - each within their jurisdiction - shall enforce the provisions of this law which shall become effective the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
His Majesty also issued Decree Law 25/2020 amending provisions to Law 22 / 2018 promulgating the Reorganization and Bankruptcy Law.
