“The ban on importing and manufacturing of non-degradable plastic will start next Saturday,” stated the Acting Director of the Evaluation and Environmental Control Department at the Supreme Council for the Environment, Engineer Lama Al-Mahroos, to the media.

She added that this step came as the second stage of the ministerial decision on degradable plastic products.

Al-Mahroos noted that implementing the second stage was part of the official efforts to reduce plastic pollution and its negative impact to the environment.

The Acting Director of the Evaluation and Environmental Control Department at the Supreme Council for the Environment explained that reducing the duration of non-degradable plastic stay as waste in the environment came in order to reduce its effects on the environment, and so that the place can bear more large quantities of waste for other things in the future.
