The National Committee to follow up on the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to all United Nations Security Council (UNSC)’s resolutions held its sixth meeting today online.

International Affairs Undersecretary, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, chaired the virtual meeting in which members of the committee representing ministries and the concerned governmental entities participated.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah thanked members for their tireless efforts and important contributions to achieve the objectives of the committee in accordance with international standards.

The meeting reviewed the accomplished tasks and activities that contributed to enhancing the international standing of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of respecting international legitimacy resolutions and within the framework of the existing strategic partnership between the Kingdom and the United Nations.

The Undersecretary stressed the importance of sustaining effective efforts aimed at ensuring the commitment and firm application by the bodies concerned of the requirements of the UN Security Council. In this regard, he noted the efforts of the committee in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Counter-Terrorism.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah noted the approval of the Cabinet, based on the recommendation of the Government Executive Committee, to establish and form a committee to combat extremism and terrorism and its financing and money laundering, in addition to proposing the designation of individuals and entities on the national terrorist lists.

He praised the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in combating terrorism and its financing and commitment to international laws and agreements in order to protect comprehensive security and achieve sustainable development.
