Over 10,420 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Wednesday (12 August) health officials confirmed.
The Ministry of Health detected 460 new cases of the COVID-19 in foreign workers, contacts and some from recent arrivals to the island kingdom, according to health officials.
Health officials said that 199 expatriate workers were detected with the virus in the past 24 hours, 260 others were infected from local contacts of active cases and one travel related.
The Ministry of Health also confirmed that 322 patients recovered from coronavirus bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 41,836 so far.
The latest update (12 August) reveals that there are currently 79 Covid-19 cases receiving treatment, of which 38 are in a critical condition. Over 3,224 cases are stable out of a total of 3,262 active cases. The total number of discharged recovered cases totals to 41,836.
Bahrain has conducted over 933,762 tests. Bahrain reported the death of a 57-year-old male expatriate and a 68-year-old male citizen from coronavirus yesterday, taking the death toll to 166.
Clinical trial for COVID-19
The Public Health Directorate at the Ministry of Health has announced the opening of volunteering opportunities to take part in the third phase of the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial.
The inactivated vaccine is pre-qualified by the World Health Organization and volunteers can register through the National Volunteer Platform.
The ministry revealed that the trial will enlist up to 6000 volunteers, over the age of 18, and volunteers will have to undergo a health assessment before enlisting, as per the health requirements set by the approved protocols.
