In line with ongoing efforts to preserve Bahrain’s traditional handicrafts and industries, the Handicrafts Directorate at Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) organized a training course for painting on different types of surfaces.
The training course was held between the 2nd and 13th December 2018 at Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre. The lecture was presented by artist Jameela Ahmed Abdullah and attended by 13 participants from the Royal Charity Organization (RCO).
The course aimed to train participants on glaze colours, other materials and different colors can be used to paint on different surfaces. The course also sought to develop the participants’ skills and enhance their knowledge with regards to Various handicrafts; allowing them to turn this knowledge into an income producing activity.
"We are delighted that the training courses conducted by the BTEA in 2018 was well-received by the different groups of participants including students, teachers and members of philanthropic establishments and NGOS. We look forward to welcoming more participants interested in handicrafts in the upcoming courses held next year. These training programmes help in preserving Bahrain’s handicrafts as per BTEA’s mission and goals," said president of Al Jasrah Handicrafts Centre, Yasser Al Sayed.
The ‘Painting on Different Surfaces’ workshop is a part of BTEA’s program of workshops which are held throughout the year. These workshops aim to preserve Bahrain’s handcrafts and industries for future generations.
