Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa today inaugurated the 13th Professional Development Conference & Exhibition.

Organised by the American Society of Safety Professionals, the event was attended by Oil Ministry, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Chief of Public Security, Interior Ministry Undersecretary and Capital Governor.

The event tackles various challenges, including emergency management and the fire protection systems that are being addressed through 16 workshops that cover different occupational safety. The conference attracts 35 speakers and 1500 participants.

The Interior Minister said the gathering of general safety experts represents an excellent opportunity to meet the latest development in worksite safety and exchange of expertise and modern technology. He underscored that achieving general safety was a joint responsibility between individuals, officials and NGOs to carry their role in security and safety awareness.  

President of the American Society of Safety Professionals, Rixio E. Medina, highlighted the main goals and activities of the society, while Head of the society in the Middle East, Eng. Hosam Al Deen Al Khalidi, highlighted the accomplishments and contributions of the society and the good ties it shares with ministries, government organisations and the private sector in Bahrain.

Head of the conference, Eng.  Ali Gobari, welcomed the Interior Minister and the guests, pointing out the importance of the conference in promoting occupational safety in the Middle East.  Safety and Industrial Security Executive Directive from Saudi Aramco, Eng. Aali Al Zahrani, highlighted that safety isn’t limited to the industry sector, but it is a community value that reflects on all walks in life.

After the opening ceremony, the Interior Minister honoured the organisers, hailing their dedication to hold the conference in Bahrain that continues to encourage safety-related events for being a key success factor for development projects and programmes. He toured the exhibition and learned about the latest safety, health and environment technologies.
