The Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the General Directorate of Traffic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide the differently-able with training programs to obtain a special driving license.

The agreement was signed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Sabah Salem Al-Dosari and the Director-General of Traffic, Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa. In accordance with this MoU, both parties agreed to implement training and rehabilitation programs to the differently-able to assist them to obtain a special driving license, in accordance with codified terms and conditions.

The MoU included several important items including standards, controls and conditions for obtaining the service. The agreement emphasized the availability of a number of basic conditions, foremost of which is that the applicant must be a person with physical or hearing disabilities enrolled in the disability allowance system at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.

The signing of this MoU is based on the provisions of Law No. 74 of 2006 regarding the care, rehabilitation and employment of the disabled, Law No. 23 of 2014 promulgating the Traffic Law, and the desire to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination and the implementation of the provisions of the law for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
