The Municipality of the Capital began implementing a comprehensive maintenance project for meat market and fish market in Manama Central Market last January at a cost of 253 thousand dinars, where the project will take 12 months.

The Director General of the Secretariat of the Capital, Engineer Shawkia Humaidan, said that the development and renovation of Manama Central Market comes in the efforts towards providing a better service for vendors and visitors in order to activate its vital role in reviving the commercial movement, especially that the market is located in the heart of the capital indicating that this reflects the government's direction in developing conditions Public markets in Bahrain due to its prominent commercial role in strengthening the national economy.

She explained that the project is going to be on several phases making sure to maintain the sales movement without influencing the vendors’ benefits, where the project includes the replacement of all ceramic-covered concrete counters in the meat market, according to specifications approved by the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

She added that vendors were previously briefed on the project communicating the stages of implementation and reassuring them that temporary alternatives will be provided to ensure the continuation of their commercial activities.

The secretariat of the capital called the vendors and visitors of Manama Central Market to cooperate and abide with the constructions apologizing for any inconvenience that may follow during the project implementation period.
