A young Bahraini miraculously survived when his car deteriorated over gas and oil pipelines in the camping zone in Sakhir area. The Ministry of Interior announced it on its official social media accounts as well as many social media active accounts. The young man, whose identity and age are not yet revealed, earned moderate injuries and was immediately taken to the Bahrain Defense Force’s Hospital as it is the nearest. The incident, which caused a total damage to the car, resulted in oil leakage. Reports indicated that a total of eight oil and gas pipelines were damaged.
Preliminary official information indicate that the young driver, who obviously did not follow safety driving rules nor the speed limits, lost control of his car, derailed and crashed into oil and gas pipelines.
Traffic police, civil defense and senior technicians from Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) immediately responded to and were present at the site.
Traffic police closed the surrounding area precautionary until car was towed and the site was cleared. Civil defense personnel sprayed a special material on the pipelines to stop oil leakage.
The Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic stated that they initiated an investigation into the accident.
