His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa issued today edict 26/2019 on setting up and forming the High Committee for Treatment Abroad. The committee shall be affiliated with the Supreme Council for Health and comprise representatives from the Ministry of Health, Bahrain Military Hospital, King Hamad University Hospital, the Interior Ministry's Medical Services, the Health Insurance Fund, Head of the Health Ministry's Treatment Abroad Office, Bahrain Oncology Centre, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialised Cardiac Centre and a representative of public hospitals.
The Head, Deputy Head and members of the committee shall be appointed as per an edict by the Supreme Council for Health President and according to the nomination of each party. The committee shall serve a renewable four-year term from the date of the issuance of the edict. If the post of any member goes vacant, they shall be replaced by a representative of the same entity who shall complete the term of their predecessor.
The edict shall also name the rapporteurs of the committee.
Edict 37/2014 shall be abrogated and President of the Supreme Council for Health and the competent authorities, each in their capacity, shall enforce the new edict the day after its promulgation in the Official Gazette.
