His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa today issued Edict 29/2019 on setting up and forming the Health Quality and Clinical Standards Committee.

The edict stipulates that the committee shall report to the Supreme Council for Health (SCH), and comprise the representatives of the Supreme Council for Health, the Bahrain Medical Society, public hospitals and the National Health Regulatory Authority.

Members also include quality officials of the Shaikh Mohammad bin Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Cardiac Centre, Primary Health Care, the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital, the King Hamad University Hospital, the Public Health Directorate at the Ministry of Health and private health sector.

According to the edict, the committee’s chairman, deputy chairman and members shall be appointed as per an edict issued by the President of Supreme Council for Health, based on the nomination of each entity.

The members shall serve a renewable four-year term, and if, for any reason, the post of a member goes vacant, they shall be replaced by a representative of the same entity, who will complete the term of their predecessor.

The SCH’s edict shall also name the rapporteur of the committee.

The SCH President and the competent health authorities –each in their capacity- shall implement the edict, which takes effect a day after its promulgation in the Official Gazette.
