Digital transformation and expansion of online services were disused at a forum. The virtual forum themed "The Development of Transportation and Logistics in Bahrain" was jointly organized by the Bahrain Chamber and the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication.
Speaking at the forum, representatives from the ministry deliberated about the digital transformation of the ministry and revealed an array of online services that aim at enhancing efficiency and streamlining business owners' endeavours.
In this regard, Bahrain Chamber Chief Executive Officer Shaker Al Shater expressed pride in the ministry's relentless cooperation with the chamber and commended the efforts exerted to facilitate operations, cutting procedures, and streamline trade.
He highlighted Bahrain's standing with regard to the quality of transport infrastructure and stressed the significant contribution of the sector to the Gross Domestic Product, which amounted to 8% in the fourth quarter of 2019. He also extended thanks and appreciation to the speakers and participants of the forum.
For his part, the Assistant Undersecretary for Ports Affairs of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication Bader Hood Al Mahmood expressed pride in the ministry's cooperation with the chamber.
"Holding this forum comes in a bid to exhibit the measures taken by the ministry in cooperation with the National Taskforce to combat Covid-19 to ensure the smooth flow of operations in light of the Coronavirus pandemic and highlight the efforts exerted to ensure seamless trade,” he added.
The Forum was concluded with a number of recommendations, key among which the importance of expediting the completion of the new causeway linking the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expanding the online services of the ministry to augment end-user benefits.
