“The contribution of the transport and logistics services sector to the gross domestic product is 8% in the last quarter of 2019,” revealed the Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Shaker Al-Shater, in a media statement.
He noted that the contribution was higher if compared to 7.4% for the same period in 2018.
Al-Shater added, in a symposium organized by the BCCI remotely, that in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Transportation, the transport and logistical services sector constituted an important and supportive link for many economic sectors in Bahrain.
He said that the sector’s importance comes from its strong role in supporting all economic sectors and its connection with them which, he assured, resulted in enormously stimulating the Kingdom’s regional trade.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Bahrain has been ranked fourth regionally and 59 globally in the quality of infrastructure for the transportation and trade sectors, according to the World Bank criteria for the 2018 Logistics Performance Index.
