Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed received Adel Mohamed Darwish and congratulated him on his appointment as Director of the Arab Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union for Arab States in Cairo.

He wished him success in enhancing Arab cooperation on issues related to telecommunications and information technology and on continuing its distinguished performance in the international telecommunications sector.

The minister expressed pride in the appointment, saying it was a new achievement for Bahraini citizens. He lauded the efforts of the former director, Ibrahim Al Haddad.

Adel has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector, where he worked for both Batelco and Etisalat, and subsequently at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority as Director of International Relations. He participated in regional and international conferences and forums related to the telecommunications sector.

The International Telecommunication Union, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, is a United Nations agency specialized in the field of information technology (ICT). It was established in 1865.
