Scores of people in Bahrain and across the globe are paying tribute to a renowned Indian doctor who was battling Covid-19 in Bahrain. In a first, Dr Solomon Vinaya Kumar, 69, is the first death reported among the medical community in Bahrain.
The respected doctor has been fighting Covid-19 for the last four weeks in the ICU at the BDF hospital. Dr Solomon worked for 14 years at AMH as a primary care physician.
In a statement, American Mission Hospital CEO Dr George Cheriyan stressed that the history of the hospital has at its foundation several health care workers who have sacrificed their lives in the purpose of healing others.
“Dr Solomon was dearly loved by his colleagues, patients and more so was a loving husband, father and grandfather. We all have lost someone close to us and know the pain that death brings, however it is in Dr Solomon’s faith we rejoice for death is but a transition to eternal life promised with God’s blessings and goodness for him to enjoy,” said AMH CEO Dr George Cheriyan.
“We will miss him dearly and join together as one family to stand alongside his family to both mourn and celebrate his life. We pray that the God of all comfort will comfort and heal the broken hearts of all those who mourn his passing especially his family,” he wrote.
The late doctor was also the President of the Gideons International – Bahrain Chapter and a former board member of the English Language Congregation –NEC. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Indira, two sons and their families.
