“A total of 245 poor quality and unusable tires were seized and destroyed,” announced the Standards and Metrology Department at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism through its official website and social media accounts. 

It stated that this came in an inspection campaign by the department included a group of tire stores around the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The assistant undersecretary for domestic and foreign trade at the ministry stated that the technical examinations made on the tires clearly showed that they were not usable, He assured that they posed a great risk to their users due to the vanishing of the flexibility property which, he said, might cause severe accidents to the users as a result of the loss of control. Based on the results of the examinations, he said, the ministry started to destroy the violating tires.

He added that the ministry carried out the inspection campaign after detecting the circulation of poor quality and unusable tires in the market. He assured that the ministry periodically followed data and indicators of the safety of products traded in the Kingdom of Bahrain and conducts inspection campaigns and field surveys to periodically seize products that pose a risk to the user and consumer safety from local markets.

It is worth mentioning that the control of car tire products started in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1995, in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. (6) of 1995 regarding the conditions for importing passenger cars to enhance the level of safety of traded tires by adhering to standards and conditions that must be met before it can be offered or sold in the local market.
