Over 12,299 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Wednesday (16 September) health officials confirmed.

The Ministry of Health detected 841 new cases of the COVID-19 in foreign workers, contacts and some from recent arrivals to the island kingdom, according to health officials.

Health officials said that 124 expatriate workers were detected with the virus in the past 24 hours, 716 others were infected from local contacts of active cases and one travel related. 

The Ministry of Health also confirmed that 613 patients recovered from coronavirus bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 55,444 so far.

The latest update (16 September) reveals that there are currently 140 Covid-19 cases receiving treatment, of which 38 are in a critical condition. Over 6,786 cases are stable out of a total of 6,824 active cases. The total number of discharged recovered cases totals to 55,444. 

Bahrain has conducted over 1,288,374 tests. Three expatriate men, aged 66, 44 and 42, died from the coronavirus yesterday, taking the death toll to 216 .
